Winner! Best Wine Documentary
Client: Brown Brothers
Project: Next in Wine: Survival and Succession (documentary film)
Festival Recognition: Best Wine Documentary – Women, Wine & Film Festival 2023
Challenge
Brown Brothers wanted to explore a new way of marketing their wines. Instead of traditional campaigns, they sought to create a deeper emotional connection with consumers.
Solution
Partnering with Dundas Media, Brown Brothers embraced a brand-funded storytelling approach. Dundas Media developed the concept of following the creation of their Tarrango wine across an entire year, capturing the dedication and resilience of the 4th-generation Brown family—predominantly women—who carried the legacy forward. The strategy was simple: if audiences saw the passion and effort that went into the wine, they’d be more compelled to buy it and seek out the Brown Brothers brand.
Execution
Filmed over 12 months, documenting the journey from grape to bottle.
Distributed through Foxtel and the Lifestyle Channel to reach wine lovers and mainstream audiences alike.
Timed the film’s premiere with the national retail launch of Tarrango at Dan Murphy stores, creating a powerful story-to-shelf moment.
Results
Next in Wine: Survival and Succession won Best Wine Documentary at the Women, Wine & Film Festival 2023.
Tarrango sold out nationwide within one week of release.
Established Brown Brothers as an innovative brand willing to embrace bold, modern marketing.
Impact
This brand-funded film proved the power of storytelling as a marketing tool—transforming audience engagement into measurable sales, and setting a benchmark for how wineries can connect brand, story, and consumer demand.
